Emily offers a supportive space in which you can explore your difficulties and open to new possibilities.
Core Process Psychotherapy is not just talking, but enquiries into the whole of our experience. With an attitude of warmth and acceptance, Emily will encourage you to bring awareness to your thoughts, feelings and body sensations as they occur within the therapeutic relationship. Over time, this process offers the potential to change the way you relate to your experience and find more choice, acceptance and wellbeing in your life.
Emily’s approach combines ‘mindfulness’ – our natural capacity to be more aware in our lives – with the belief that within all human experience is a ‘core’ state of wellbeing with qualities of wisdom, compassion and joy. Connecting to our core can encourage change to occur naturally. Core Process Psychotherapy is based in western approaches to psychotherapy and a Buddhist spiritual perspective.
Emily is deeply committed to the work she does, having seen how invaluable it is in her own life and in sharing the experiences of others. She has a particular interest in supporting people to explore issues underlying food and body image problems, such as binge eating, obesity, anorexia and bulimia.
Emily is a diplomate practitioner of Core Process Psychotherapy with five years of training from the Karuna Institute and has professional membership with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
